Greek truck drivers get back to work order from government
    Raleigh Times
    Thursday 29th July, 2010

The Greek government, using a rare law, has ordered truck drivers back to work.

The back to work order was issued only hours after negotiations between the government and the drivers, who have been on a three day strike, broke down.

The drivers could face arrest and the loss of their licences if they are not back on the roads by next week to supply fuel stations and other essential services.

With shops and factories running low on supplies, the Greek government invoked the emergency provision, which is usually reserved for war or natural disaster.

The drivers have been on strike in opposition to government plans to open the industry to more competition.
